POCKET WOOD LATHE
thingiverse
I imported STL files into my CAD software and used them as a base, revamping the design of Crayon Lathe 2 | Open Source TOYS created by theevilorverlord. I aimed to craft a simple wood lathe capable of turning rods at a scale of 1:76.2 or 00, equivalent to 4mm per foot. This particular design offered an excellent starting point, with the headstock retaining its original structure except for my substitution of it with a direct drive motor for enhanced speed and utilization of 8mm rods. Meanwhile, the tailstock incorporated another headstock, ensuring flexibility for future customizations. The saddle and tool rest drew inspiration from my existing big wood lathe setup. Printed in ABS, the entire device required rod holes to be meticulously cleaned out for a smooth fit with the components.
