Pocket Unemployment Map of the United States

Pocket Unemployment Map of the United States

thingiverse

To produce my computational economics paper, I showcased economic data visualization via a 3D printed object of US unemployment by county in 2009. The height denotes the unemployment rate and it functions as an accurate pocket map too. Printed with 40% infill, using PLA/ABS works well. Scale is flexible, but calibrating E-retraction length reduces strands. If printed before my Friday submission, I'd include it in my paper. The JavaScript used can be found on Thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:15276), while the economic data originates from Bureau of Labor Statistics and image source is Flowing Data (http://flowingdata.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Unemployment-choropleth-425x278.png).
