POCKET TOOL GRINDER
thingiverse
Having crafted the Pocket Wood Lathe and fashioned tools from sewing machine needles, I required a way to hone them in place, so this tool was brought to life. So this marks the second innovation in my pocket series, modeled after my previous creation, the Pocket Wood Lathe at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1092972. Designed with the same headstock as my lathe at its core, each of these tools will be centered around a consistent style. To solve a common issue, I incorporated a bearing on the headstock that can also fit onto the Pocket Wood Lathe's shaft, keeping it securely in place. The mandrel for the grinding wheel is a standard Dremel part, but with some adjustments – I shortened the 3mm end and drilled it to accommodate my motor's requirements. More pocket tools designed for modeling are on the horizon, so stay tuned! PARTS LIST: Headstock x1, Saddle x1, Tool Rest x1, Stand x1, Bearing suited to motor shaft OD, 10mm (matched to 1/8" of my specific motor), 4mm cap screws x1, 3mm cap screws x10, 2 pieces of 100MM 8mm rod. A motor from an old battery drill fits my design.
