CORE SET 7: Men of Midgard Defend Against Viking Raiders from Across the Fjords Welcome to Pocket-Tactics 4th Edition, a modular, 3D-printable strategy board game that's ready for action wherever you are! We've streamlined this new edition over years of refinement and we can't wait to share it with you. Stay tuned for more exciting features and updates as we continue to develop the game. Gameplay Overview Here's a quick rundown on how to play: 1. Determine the Starting Players: Players choose who goes first, either by random draw or mutual agreement. 2. Set Up the Map: Place the terrain tiles and features onto the board, making sure to follow the setup instructions for each tile type. 3. Deploy Units: Each player starts with a set number of units on the map, placed according to their faction's deployment rules. 4. Take Turns: Players take individual turns, with each turn consisting of three phases: Move, Assault, and Resolve. Movement Phase: * Choose a unit to move and select a valid destination space on the board. * If the destination space is occupied by an enemy unit, you can attempt to assault it using the Assault phase. * You can also use special abilities or terrain effects to modify your movement range or speed. Assault Phase: * Select a target enemy unit within range (either adjacent or at a longer distance, depending on the unit's ranged attack ability). * Roll a red die for Offense and a blue die for Defense. Compare the results to determine the outcome of the assault. * You can use bumps or re-rolls to adjust the die results. Resolve Phase: * Apply any effects from the Assault phase, such as defeating enemy units or gaining control of features. * Resolve any hazards or special abilities triggered by unit movement or combat. Types and Hazards * Units have a type (Human, Elf, Robot, etc.) that has no effect on their own but is referenced by certain abilities and terrain effects. * Some terrain tiles contain hazards that trigger when a unit enters the space. These can be avoided by deploying units into the tile or using favored terrain. Victory Conditions * A player achieves victory as soon as their opponent cannot activate or deploy any units. * Alternatively, a player wins if they control all features on the map. List of Units and Features: Here's a comprehensive list of units, features, and hazards in the game. Each unit has its own unique abilities, types, and favored terrain effects. Unit List: * Men of Midgard + Human Soldier + Elf Archer + Robot Scout * Viking Raiders + Raider Warrior + Raider Leader + Raider Shield Feature List: * Terrain Tiles: Forest, Mountain, Water, etc. * Features: Village, Castle, Bridge, etc. Hazard List: * Water: A unit moving into a Water tile must succeed at a DV 5 DEF test or be defeated immediately after doing so. * Fire: A unit entering a space with fire hazard is dealt damage and may become immobile.
