CORE SET 7: The Order of Artifice against the Kingdom of Dawnrise Welcome to the Fifth Edition of Pocket-Tactics, the modular, 3d-printable strategy board game that adapts to your playstyle! This new edition represents years of refinement, and we're excited to be ready to present this to you. Stay tuned for more sets and pieces, as well as updated rules for all of the previous edition's components. Players engage in a battle of wits and luck as they command their units across the board, utilizing terrain features, unit abilities, and strategic deployments to outmaneuver their opponents. Units have three types: Human, Elf, Robot, and more. These classifications influence certain abilities and terrain effects that may either aid or hinder a unit's performance. The game features various hazards, including Water, which requires units to succeed at a DV 5 DEF test or be defeated immediately upon entering the tile. Victory is achieved when an opponent cannot activate or deploy any units, or when a single player controls all features on the board. Units have unique abilities and characteristics that impact gameplay. Some may possess special powers, while others are vulnerable to specific hazards. The game includes various terrain types, each with its own effects and challenges. Players must carefully consider their unit placements and movements to maximize their chances of success. Deployment is a crucial aspect of the game, allowing players to place units in advantageous positions or return them to reserves when needed. Players can engage in ranged attacks, using units with the Ranged Attack symbol to attack enemies from a distance. This adds a new layer of strategy to the game, as players must consider range and line of sight when making assaults. The Tally Phase determines the outcome of an assault, with the highest OFF die compared against the highest enemy DEF die. If a single OFF die cannot match or beat an enemy's DEF value, that enemy is defeated and removed from the board. Players can also use special abilities and terrain effects to gain an advantage in battle. Some units may have multiple bump values listed under their dice or granted by specific abilities or terrain effects. Support is a valuable asset in the game, as units with adjacent allies gain additional re-rolls during the Re-Roll Phase of an assault. The game features various types of terrain, each with its own hazards and challenges. Players must carefully consider their unit placements and movements to maximize their chances of success.
