CORE SET 5: Pnath's Ghouls Battle Koth's Gugs Happy Halloween, and welcome to Pocket-Tactics' Fourth Edition, a modular strategy board game that goes anywhere with you! This new edition is the result of years of refining our design, and we're thrilled to introduce it to you. These factions are inspired by the creatures from Pnath and Koth's legendary realms. Pnath's Ghouls * Pnath, a ghoul lord, leads his pack of ghouls into battle against Koth's Gugs. * The ghouls are known for their ferocity in combat, with some able to make ranged attacks from a distance. * Their favored terrain is the dark forest, where they can move unseen and strike from the shadows. Koth's Gugs * Koth, a powerful gug lord, commands his army of gugs against Pnath's Ghouls. * The gugs are massive and strong, with some able to take multiple hits before being defeated. * Their favored terrain is the rocky mountain range, where they can use their size and strength to overwhelm their opponents. Gameplay The game is played on a modular board composed of interlocking tiles, each representing a different terrain type. Players take turns moving their units, assaulting enemy units, and deploying new units onto the board. Movement * Units move according to their movement value, which is listed on their rules card. * Some units have special abilities that allow them to move extra spaces or ignore certain hazards. * Units can also use bump values to adjust dice rolls during assaults. Assaults * Assaults occur in three phases: Roll, Bump, and Re-Roll. * During the Roll phase, players roll their red and blue dice simultaneously. * In the Bump phase, players take turns using bumps to adjust dice results. * In the Re-Roll phase, players can re-roll dice results using special abilities or terrain effects. Deployment * Players can deploy new units onto the board by moving them from their reserves into an unoccupied space adjacent to a feature they control. * Units can also return to reserves by moving into an occupied feature tile. Types and Hazards * Units have types, which are listed on their rules card. These types have no effect on their own but are referenced by certain abilities and terrain effects. * Some terrain tiles and features contain hazards, which trigger special effects when a unit is moved into that space. Victory Conditions * A player achieves victory as soon as their opponent (or opponents) cannot activate or deploy any units. * Alternately, victory is secured the moment any single player controls all features on the map.
