CORE SET 4: AstroForce against the Mytoan Spore Host Welcome to the Fourth Edition of Pocket-Tactics, a game of strategic combat and tactical maneuvering. In this edition, two powerful forces clash in a battle for dominance: the technologically advanced AstroForce and the eerie, fungal-based Mytoan Spore Host. The game is set on a modular board consisting of interlocking tiles, each representing a different terrain type or feature. Players take turns placing these tiles to create their battlefield. Players control units with unique abilities and attributes, including strength, speed, and special powers. Units can be moved around the board using various actions, such as marching, flying, or teleporting. When two units engage in combat, they participate in an assault, which consists of three phases: roll phase, bump phase, and re-roll phase. In the roll phase, both players roll their dice to determine the outcome of the assault. The player with the highest offense value (OFF) rolls their red dice, while the opponent rolls their blue dice. The bump phase allows players to adjust their die results using "bumps," which can be used to increase or decrease a single die result. In the re-roll phase, players can use special abilities or terrain effects to re-roll one of their die results. Units that have adjacent allies gain additional re-rolls. After all phases are complete, the player with the highest offense value defeats the opponent's unit, removing it from the board and adding it to their capture pile. Some units have special abilities, such as ranged attacks or deployment powers, which allow them to attack units at a distance or deploy new units onto the board. Units can also be affected by hazards, such as water or toxic gas, which can defeat them immediately or hinder their movement. The game ends when one player controls all features on the board or their opponent cannot activate any units.
