Po Elbow (Beta)

Po Elbow (Beta)

In developing a 3D printed prosthesis for transhumeral amputations, we came up with a solution for the elbow joint after multiple iterations and decided to share it to get feedback from the community. This elbow module is designed to be fitted to a 3D printed socket specifically tailored for each user and secured with screws as shown in the pictures. The mechanism involves a gear paired with a ratchet that locks due to a spring. The hand is intended to be positioned manually, and operated by opposite shoulder movement facilitated by the harness still under development. The operating principles are explained in the video at https://youtu.be/kgsTcpHhMc0. We also share printable files along with the public Fusion 360 link where you can find all parts, understand how we designed them, and make modifications as desired. Please share your improvements with us and the entire community! Note that the hand and fingers were not designed using Fusion 360 but by editing Gyrobot's Flexyhand and Cathy's Lucky Fin by Rhadamanthys76 (see ArmPO v3) at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2803120. The public Fusion 360 link is located at https://a360.co/2GKau47. For any questions, comments, or personalization requests, don't hesitate to contact us at pamarilla@po.com.py. This project was developed in collaboration with the "Universidad Católica de Asunción" as a final thesis project for Industrial Design.
