DESCRIPTION OF PNEUMATIC BRAKES Pneumatic brakes absorb energy in rotating or linearly moving components and prevent energy transfer using the principle of friction and pressure. Weather stimulated devices, pneumatic brakes consist of two parts: a fixed part and a mobile part. The moving part is mounted on parts that absorb energy, usually on the side, while the fixed part is attached to the stationary body. The braking process occurs between these two parts through merger or separation. When there's no relative movement between them, the brake is in an idle position, and the moving parts transmit maximum energy. However, when they approach each other, it's referred to as the tension brake condition. In this state, the brake has reached its maximum braking potential. When fully merged, the mobile and fixed parts form a complete bond, converting all the energy into heat energy through frictional force between them. The distance between the rotation axis and the point of application defines the TORQUE CAPACITY of the brake, which is directly proportional to the amount of energy it can absorb. The thermal capacity of a brake is determined by the amount of heat absorbed and dissipated during braking. A brake must possess both sufficient torque capacity and thermal capacity to function effectively.
