PMAG/STANAG Magazine Loading Tool
myminifactory
Simple loading tool to assist with loading magazines and reduce stress on thumbs over long periods, eliminating the need for fine motor skills when handling ammunition in cold conditions or wearing gloves. The design addresses my primary concerns. Drop ammunition into the loader with the flange facing the rear of the magazine, then push down and rotate the center piece to load the ammunition efficiently. The closest commercial equivalent can be found at midwayusa.com, priced at $26.95 at the time of writing. Printed at 30% infill, this tool uses approximately 29 grams of filament, which translates to 58 cents worth of plastic at $20 per kilogram. A 1/4-inch clevis pin from mcmaster carr costs 27 cents, bringing the total cost to 85 cents in the worst-case scenario. The inside of the body has been chamfered to eliminate the need for supports during printing. I have printed my final version using a $13 per kilogram roll of filament, which reduces the cost further due to loose dimensional tolerances that allow cheaper filament to be used effectively. This tool not only offers a cost-effective alternative to commercial equivalents but also provides the benefit of being easily scalable and resizable to fit various magazine types, including .308 Pmags or other double stack double feed magazines without a commercial loader in existence.
