Disclaimer: I am not an engineer. I do not have an education in engineering, CAD/CAM, mechanical design, etc. I am a hobbyist that has learned everything about the design and making of this "thingy" through personal experience and the internet. This is a X axis NEMA 34 stepper mount for a Precision Matthews PM30-MV mill. I created this mount as part of a power feed side project for my mill, an interim step to a full CNC conversion. The mount consists of three parts: the mount itself, a slider to engage/disengage power transmission to the screw, and a dog that transmits power from the stepper to the screw. All the parts were printed using PETG with 0.25 layer height, 4 perimeters, 4 top layers, 3 bottom layers, and 20% cubic infill. All parts except for the lower slider half were printed without supports. You will need 2 M4 x 20 screws to mate the halves of the slider together, 4 1/4" x 1" screws to attach the stepper, and 4 M6 x 30-40mm (I don't recall) screws to attach the mount to the table. I used socket head screws for the slider and mill-side attachment, button head screws for the stepper attachment though socket heads screws would probably work as well.
You can view a short video of the mount in use via YouTube. Please note that the mount shown in the video is the first iteration. The second (posted) iteration incorporated the slider and enclosed the "tube" for extra strength though I'm not sure it needed it.
