thingiverse
An early design for a parametrizable permanent magnet alternator. Or structure for a one.
Instructions
6.2. 2012, update to rotor: Attempt to add placeholders for washers and extend magnet through the rotor. Also updated assembly-routine with MK6-turbine (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:16504).
Check the scad for rotor and stator routines.
Rotor.stl is just an example generated.
I imagine the magnets would need to be epoxied in place.
Although I made the script more or less from scratch, design is inspired by:http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1589
(coil shape and winder are something that could be used/shared in future from Gene_Hackers design)
Electronics/coil design has not been really started for this, but what I initially checked there was no shortage of research and experiments there.
Design magnets and coils setup
Edit corresponding parameters in scad
render with rotor() and stator()
NOTE: although rotor might be getting somewhere, don't print the STL (it's too large for most printers anyways).
