PM Alternator

PM Alternator

thingiverse

A preliminary model of a customizable permanent magnet alternator structure has been created. In 2012, the rotor design was updated to include placeholders for washers and extending the magnet through the rotor. The assembly process involves using the MK6 turbine (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:16504). The scad files contain routines for both the rotor and stator. Rotor.stl is an example generated model. Epoxy may be used to secure the magnets in place. The design was inspired by a Thingiverse post (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1589), and while the electronics and coil design have not been finalized, research and experimentation are plentiful. To edit the design, modify parameters in the scad file and visualize with rotor() and stator(). Note that the rotor STL should not be printed due to its large size.
