Plywood Stool with Footrest

Plywood Stool with Footrest

Using a CNC router, I crafted a sturdy stool from a 2'x2'x3/4" plywood piece and Elmer's carpenter's glue. The seat measures 12"x14", while the base is 15"x17". Sitting at 18" off the ground with a 6" footrest, this stool can support at least 300lbs despite my 230lb weight. After curing, the stool will be sanded and stained for a nice finish. To assemble, start with the base by applying glue to the slots in the footrest and legs before joining; then add glue to the leg tongues and fit the seat on top, ensuring all mating surfaces have glue. For additional strength, insert scrap dowels between the legs instead of clamping each one individually. Secure with a heavy object, let the glue cure for 2 hours, and then wait an additional 24 hours before sanding and staining.
