Plywood Nested Bike Rack

These are the blueprint files for the bike racks I designed for my camp at Burning Man 2017. You will need to use plywood that is either 18mm, 19mm, or 23/32" thick. Plywood with a thickness of 3/4" works well too. It's essential to avoid using MDF, OSB, or Particle Board as they lack the rigidity required for this design. Pine and sande plywood are excellent budget-friendly options. Birch and maple also provide great visual finishes. These blueprints are designed to be cut with a CNC machine and a 1/4" router bit. However, you can also hand-cut them using a jigsaw and a palm sander. When hand-cutting, be cautious when cutting the notches that join the pieces - they need to be very precise for a proper friction fit. To assemble, use a soft mallet to push the notches together fully. It's best to start by attaching the cross-sections to the center piece, then setting it on the ground and attaching each smaller outer piece. To disassemble, use a soft mallet to tap the pieces apart. Read more about the design and reasons I built it here: http://www.thetylergibson.com/building-a-better-portable-bike-rack/
