What if, like so many of Morty's deepest anxieties, this perfectly average, totally useless object hides a profound purpose? In this dark vision, the plumbus becomes a tool for societal control - a constant reminder that no matter how hard we try to create meaning in our lives, the universe is ultimately indifferent to our existence. And who knows? Maybe that's exactly what the Council of Ricks had in mind all along.
