Long-shaft bearings demand extra support, particularly when the shaft can't be inserted directly into the bearing. A pedestal or base, cap, and bush make up this type of bearing. The bush splits into two halves known as 'bearing brasses'. These split parts simplify assembly and replacement of worn-out brasses during maintenance.
