Plug socket / adapter for DELL DA-2 power supply
thingiverse
Dell DA-2 12V 18A power supply is often utilized in 3D printers. However, the plug does not conform to standards (features an unusual arrangement of square and slanted pins), thus it cannot fit into 8-pin Molex plug housing. Online solutions are readily available, including cutting away the plug. I designed an adapter socket that fits 12-pin Molex, as the smallest Molex that includes required pin arrangement. It does not require changes to the power supply plug. Part number for Molex is 39-01-2121, Mini-Fit Jr. Plug Housing, Dual Row, 12 Circuits, UL 94V-2, with Panel Mounting Ears, Natural. Order it with necessary pins. Features: 1. The stl can be inserted as part of your design. I use it in the base of my printer (see photo). 2. The adapter covers 4 unused pins of Molex, eliminating any possibility of error. 3. It has holes that fit mounting ears of the housing, ensuring the housing stays securely in place. 4. It features a hole for power supply plug latch (locking mechanism), preventing accidental disconnection. Notes: 1. Printing should be done to fit the Molex tightly, preventing wobbling, and may require some size adjustments for specific printers. 2. A small piece of Molex housing that ensures unidirectional use must be cut away to avoid design problems. 3. Supports can be used if necessary. 4. Pinout required can be found online.
