Plinko Dice Tower With Magnetic Latch and Detachable tray
prusaprinters

After using my old dice tower for over 2 years, I had some ideas for improvement.

This new one features a print-in-place hinge design

Low walls on the tray ensure that your dice are easily readable after a roll

During play, use the detachable tray to keep your other dice nearby

When it's time to go home, just fold the tower down.

When folded, the two trays allow you to store dice and minis separately. (delicate 3d printed minis won't get smashed)

Magnets hold everything closed and together

I tried to make it look a little castle-like with a brick wall generated in Tinkercad and a castle door made by drxenocide

See it in action here: https://youtu.be/Pd3fss05K\_E

This uses 8 8x3mm magnets. Here are the ones I used: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1000008645137.html

After printing, insert the magnets into 4 holes in the detachable tray, 2 holes in the attached tray, and 2 slots in the tower. Be sure to get the polarities lined up before you push the magnets into place so everything attaches correctly. Use a bit of Gorilla Glue or something similar to secure them.

7/11/19 update - I uploaded a version without the castle texture

Print instructions

Supports: No

Resolution: 0.2mm

Notes:

0.4 nozzle width AND extrusion width. A wider extrusion width (PrusaSlicer defaults to .45) may cause the features on one side to show through on the other side more

Use 3 shells for the main tower to make sure the pegs don't break when dice hit them. The trays can use 2 shells and lower infill if you want to save filament and your slicer allows you to change their settings separately
