Plexiglas enclosure for the up! plus / Afinia 3d printer

thingiverse

This plexiglas enclosure is designed for the up! plus/Afinia 3D printer, preventing prints from cooling too quickly. Created to be laser-cut in just 10 minutes instead of printed over 20 hours, it mirrors the original design's placement of electronics and extruder outside the heat retention chamber. The enclosure can potentially be refined for a rear step motor exclusion. The file is tailored to a 60x90cm sheet of 3mm plexiglass, with no glue required; screws hold side panels while others clip on. Removable tops, front, and back panels allow easy access to the build volume. A thin transparent paper sheet can cover the extruder panel, trapping warm air inside. The FilamentHolder.stl complements the side panel for filament guidance, and a spool holder from Thingiverse's item 26659 is suggested. Longer M2.5 screws are needed due to the plexiglas depth. Lasercutting services are offered at gilles@banana2000.net, or visit realizeBxl.be in Brussels for DIY opportunities.
