Plenum Spacer for LY7 Engine (Pontiac G8, Commodore VE SV6) This DIY plenum spacer project allows you to create your own spacer using CNC or 3D printing technology. Use high-quality polycarbonate plastic, such as lexan, which offers excellent resistance to heat, fuel, and shattering. ABS is also a suitable option. After researching various plenum spacers on eBay, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create one instead of spending $100 on a pre-made model. My custom spacer is made from 9.5mm polycarbonate plastic, which provides the perfect length for securing the plenum in place using standard bolts. For reference, the typical bolt lengths required are: two M8 x 70mm bolts with a standard pitch thread and four M8 x 160mm bolts also with a standard pitch thread. To install your DIY plenum spacer, consult the instructions provided by Mace Engineering at https://www.maceengineering.com.au/WebRoot/ecshared01/Shops/mace/52F4/5BF9/8DFE/52CC/DE5C/AC10/0040/136E/VE_ALLOYTEC_Manifold_Insulator_Kit_Installation.pdf. One important note to consider is that the port holes on this design are approximately 2.5mm larger than the actual ports. This might not be a significant issue, but for optimal performance, it's recommended to shrink the port holes by about 2.5mm to match the ports more accurately. Warning: Be cautious when installing this mod as it may cause engine problems. In my case, the engine check light came on and the car ran rough after installation. It's possible that a dyno tune might resolve the issue, but it's essential to have enough time and spare parts available in case you need to reverse the modification.
