Built in Gothic style by Miguel de Perea with the help of Sancho de Escalante in 1551, it was transformed in 1654 by Pedro de Palacios who built an altar to place an image of Santiago brought from the Church of the Immaculate Conception. In 1955, the chapel was restored and the encaustic was removed that hid the stone bench.
