Playstation 4 (PS4) longer Options-Button

The Options button on my PS4 joypad is conveniently located but frequently gets mistaken for the Touchpad due to its proximity. Whenever I'm deep in the Map menu of GTA5 or other game that requires regular access, it can be a challenge to press it accurately. In most cases, my thumb tends to unintentionally activate the Touchpad's functions instead. To alleviate this issue, I decided to customize my pad by adding an extended Options button. To begin with, I had to disassemble my controller completely, which wasn't an easy task given its compact design. Upon gaining access to the internal components, I designed and 3D printed a longer button for the Options key. Unfortunately, my printer had difficulties printing intricate parts like this one. The final solution was to print the part solidly rather than trying to produce a hollowed-out piece with small openings. Fortunately, this worked out fine in the end. However, before attempting such modifications, I must emphasize that voiding your controller's warranty or causing permanent damage is always a possibility if you choose to go down this route. It turns out the modification paid off nicely, and my new setup works like a charm – a true testament to what DIY customization can accomplish when combined with some creative problem-solving. Just be mindful of the risks involved whenever attempting repairs or customizing electronic components in your device; proceed at your own discretion and be cautious about potentially rendering it unusable in case something goes wrong.
