Playseat Challenge Wheel Deck Reinforcement + Glove Box
thingiverse
This was inspired by the build of Chreutz https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4207807 It worked brilliant, but I had issues with leg/knee space and wanted a glove box. So I rebuild it with very simple shapes from scratch. This mod eliminates around 80-90% of the wheel plate flex on a Playseat Challenge. The glove box is really cool, but optional, if you don't want it just print the right arm twice. See before/after video here https://youtu.be/5B6NBgwF4yE Important: This only works, if the wheel plate is fixed close to the driver. If you have the wheel plate all the way back, it probably won't work for you. There are three length-options: - 180mm - 190mm - 195mm - 200mm Measure the perfect distance for you between the left pipe and the wheel plate and choose the matching length. See picture No 3 for an example. If you need a different length, just add a comment and I can add a version for you. If you want the glove box on the left side, just mirror it in your slicer. The arm without the glove box works for both sides. You want it rigid, so I recommend high number of walls/perimeters and high infill. I used 6 walls with a 0.6 nozzle with 0.72mm layer width, so the walls were about 4mm thick. Layer height was 0.3 and 50% infill. How to mount it: 1. Loosen the wheel deck screw so you can tilt the plate downwards two clicks 2. Tighten the wheel deck screw 3. Put both printed arms on the pipes 4. Pull your wheel upwards by hand and slide the top part of the arm directly to the wheel plate so it is fixed. Repeat with the other side. 5. Done Happy printing and driving ✌️ P.S.: I'm thinking about adding a button box on one of the sides, so stay tuned for future updates. Another thing: I'm a novice in 3d modeling in Blender. If there is someone who could round the while preserving printability, please comment and I'll send you the blender files.
