So I needed an anchor winch for my son's pirate ship... My search started quite great as I found right away this splendid design for the winch base by user 3DMatten74: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4721512 But to my dismay, I couldn't find the winch drum anywhere... So I started my favorite CAD SW and here we are today So this part is grossly equivalent to Playmobil's ref. 30 27 4250. (Note that the 1990's design was made of 2 parts just for the winch drum : 30 60 142 + 30 60 144) My favorite printing position is the STL's position, but it has one major flaw of wasting lots of support material. You have 2 STL files : - 1 normal for those of you who feel confident enough in their filament's strength - 1 hollow for the others (like me) About the hollow part: In that part the axle is hollowed out of 2.5mm of internal diameter, to allow you to reinforce it with a cut 2.5x45mm nail ...because let's be honest: no 3D-printed PLA axle ever (and no matter the printing position you use) is going to withstand the abuse from a 5 year old's hands ! Note that I had to drill the hollow with a 2.5mm drill bit to have the cut nail fit properly into it after printing (you can see the nail in one picture above) but that's quite easy with a little battery-powered drill and reasonably skillful hands.
