Playmobil Fire Truck - FDM
thingiverse
Converting the Playmobil Fire Truck model from @Lies to 3D parts was a challenge, but it paid off in the end. The finished product has a seat and is perfectly sized, allowing a Playmobil figure to drive it with ease. I had promised my nephew that I would print this model for him as a birthday present, but things took a turn when I discovered it was designed specifically for a MDF laser cutter. Faced with the choice of buying a laser cutter or making it printable myself, I decided to take on the challenge. Rearranging and transforming the parts into exact sizes using a 0.2mm multiplier was no easy task, but I persevered and eventually extruded the design as a 3D model in Fusion 360. To ensure a secure fit, I gave all parts a thickness of 4mm, except for the wheels which needed to be thicker. After printing each part twice, I had to make some adjustments to get the correct size, but it was worth it in the end. Designing a round hole for the wheels and adding a well made a big difference, but using M3 screws turned out to be the perfect solution. The result is a fire truck that not only looks great but also rotates smoothly. Thanks to @Lies for providing such a solid base model - you're a true 3D printing hero!
