Playing Card Box

thingiverse

My first upload to thingiverse - a Playing Card Box that I printed as a birthday gift for my dad (an avid Poker player) A friend bought some playing cards with extra large symbols for a grandparent, but the cards came without a box. I volunteered to design and print a box for the cards. It turned out so beautiful that I decided to print a couple more to give to my parents as well I wanted a snug fit to the cards so I just added a millimeter or two on the inside of the box. I went for an even tighter fit between the box with the actual lid, designing it without any spacing at all. This means that you probably need 2-3 minutes of sanding on the surface that connects with the lid depending on how well calibrated your printer is. I prefer it this way since you can decide yourself how tight of a fit you want. To make sure it could be opened easily, I put a spacing of a couple of mm between the lid and the box so that your fingers have something to grab a hold of when pulling it apart. It also makes the design look so much better. I uploaded two versions, one for Poker cards (88x62.5x17.7mm) and one for Bridge cards (89x58x16.5mm). The inside spacing is ~1mm on each side of the length and width of the cards if I remembered correctly. The height is a lot tighter though, only 0.1mm for the Poker version, and I reckon something similar for the one Bridge version. It all depends, of course, on how many extra cards your deck comes with (jokers and such). If you want to customize it yourself or change anything, you can find my OnShape design here: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/ee55f5835ab2c350ce528559/w/50aeca0ba31a97960b171323/e/9b75e2508b18c5f25f958a88 The spade symbol is not created by me, but I converted and imported it to OnShape in order to use it.
