Play-Doh Cutters: Decimal Squares

Play-Doh Cutters: Decimal Squares

thingiverse

These play-doh cutters are designed to mimic decimal squares. There are three square cutters: the whole, the tenths, and the hundredths. AFTER cutting a whole (square), the cutters for the tenths and hundredths should be used to score the square (not go all the way down). Next, students should use a play-doh knife to cut out the tenths/hundredths. So, if having them represent 0.1 and 0.10, children can cut out 1 tenth using the tenths cutter and play-doh knife, and then cut out 10 hundredths (as a chunk, not individually!) to compare and see they are indeed the same amount (i.e., 0.1 = 0.10). For the play-doh knife, I suggest using MrKindergarten's design found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1294945
