Platypus Right Forelimb
sketchfab
The forelimb skeleton of a platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus, MVZ-M-32885), preserved in fluid and housed at the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology, serves as the foundation for this 3D model. Karina Riddell created the model using VGStudioMax 3.3 from a CT scan conducted by a Phoenix V|Tome|X S scanner. The CT scan was specifically designed to accompany an educational activity developed during the UF Center for Precollegiate Education and Training workshop, "3D Vertebrates: From Museum Shelves to Classrooms." Funding for scanning and modeling came from the oVert project at the University of Florida (NSF DBI 1701714, https://tinyurl.com/oVertwiki). The CT scan data for this specimen can be accessed at https://www.morphosource.org/Detail/SpecimenDetail/Show/specimen_id/16026.
