Platonic Solids for OpenScad - v0.2
thingiverse
Introducing an upgraded version of the maths_geodesic library with added features! The original library had a bug in its 'clean' function, but it has been fixed. New additions include DEGREES() and RADIANS() functions, deg(deg, min, sec) for holding degrees, minutes, seconds, and deg_to_dec for converting the degrees structure to decimal form. The sphu_from_cart function allows conversion from cartesian coordinates with a specified radius. Moreover, polygon math features have been implemented to calculate internal angles and dihedral angles for Platonic solids. The library now contains 'platonic.scad' file with functions representing the five Platonic solids: tetrahedron, octahedron, hexahedron, dodecahedron, and icosahedron. These solids can be rendered using display_polyhedron() by setting their radius and orientation. The .stl files provide casual renderings of the Platonic solids, with truncations, stellations, and hollowed-out forms possible. However, proper alignment of duals using inradius, circumradius, and midradius is not yet implemented. Updates include fixed Dodecahedron rendering issue and a new platonic_set.stl file with improved Dodecahedron. Users can download the necessary files, play around with test_platonic.scad for guidance, and enjoy exploring Platonic solids in their projects!
