sketchfab
The Cui Anaranjado plates are characterized by a representation of a mythical bird that was considered an augur and emissary of the underworld deities by ancient Mayans. This ceramics belongs to an interesting tradition developed during the Late Classic period (650-750 AD) in the central region of Campeche and southwestern Yucatan. Due to its association with the underworld, it is common to find them in funeral contexts, placed upside down over the skull of the burials.
