Platform, Mini Lift, MG90S Micro Servo
thingiverse
I've been messing around with the tank, building this little mini lift from scratch. All I can think about now is how cool it would be to use it with Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars. Assembles quickly, but takes time for filing and fitting. Uses #4x1/4" and #4x3/8" sheet metal screws and #15 brad nails to put together the entire piece. Platform measures 2 inches x 2 7/8 inches on top and everything fits underneath when lifted. Platform moves 0.300 inches (at the top) to a fully-lifted position of 2.200 inches using an MG90S Tower Pro Servo. A servo adjuster gets you into just the right gear ratio for perfect operation. I built this one quickly, but there was still a lot of time spent on filing and fitting it all together perfectly. This mini lift is super fun to work with! **Building Instructions:** First, the arm and platform need support - so make sure to drill those #4 screw holes into .089-.093" for threading and .120" to pass through part cleanly. When cutting the brad nails, keep them to a short length but still have some wiggle room to grab with pliers to pull out afterwards. And when filing the sharp edges on cut, be careful not to dull the nails themselves! On the base and platform drill those brad nail holes into .073" - it makes a difference. I had trouble fitting my gear lift arm due to close clearances under the platform, but I was able to file them down to a manageable size. Also make sure that you round the shaft smooth so everything moves properly! Finally, with all parts assembled together and tightened up securely (I recommend .182" drill bits for your holes!), take a step back and watch this thing in action! The more time you put into fitting and tuning the mechanism, the smoother it will operate. Don't be afraid to push on that hard-to-move gear - if needed. To fit properly and prevent hitting the arm if not lined up exactly right! This lift's power comes from two 9-volt batteries, making for quite a fun size and scope build for Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars! This thing lifts its platform 0.3" to 2.2 inches in length on top. And at a solid square footprint of just 2 inches by 2 7/8, it still looks impressive! I ended up cutting off some excess screw tabs from the base so that it all sat flat when attached - make sure you're careful with these cuts and leave them just a little bit longer to keep them flush. With proper build alignment & good hardware choices - your build should have no issues operating freely or getting precise operation results every single time. Good luck building yours out now, enjoy!
