A real-world platform bed model with drawers underneath features this design; note that the drawer faces fit into cutouts in the model and there are wheels on either side of the drawers, eliminating the need for rails. The actual build includes 90-degree metal braces at the inside corners and under the two bars supporting the mattress slats.
