PLATEZ

PLATEZ

thingiverse

'Platez' are fun, decorative, and informative small car license plate style signs. Use them around your home, office, or in the garage - even attach them to your bike or 3D printer. Great for small display signs or as gifts. There are well over 150 'Platez' files so scroll through the files provided and choose your favorites to print. Please post pictures of your 'Platez' in use! In addition to the 'Platez', there are two additional .stl files: one for a display stand and another for a hanger bracket. You can hang your Platez on door handles, etc., using these accessories (Refer to the images). They're relatively quick and very easy to print. Just pause your machine at around 85% print progress and change the filament to a second color. At standard scale, they measure 95mm x 47.5mm - just like most US car license plates. This makes them able to be printed on almost any 3D printer, even if it only has a small build volume... and they're only 3mm in depth so they don't consume much filament. 'Platez' and the stand/hanger bracket are quick and easy prints. Please refer to the print settings and images for additional information - then have fun with them! Print Settings: Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator (5th Generation) Resolution: Standard / 0.20mm in PLA Infill: 'Platez' - 2 shells/15% infill recommended Notes: Recommend printing with a Raft for ease of removal from the build plate. No supports required for the Platez, the stand, or the hanger bracket. Print the stands and hanger brackets with 2 shells and 35% infill to make sure they're strong. Change filament colors at approx. 85% print progress by pausing your machine. The text forming should be visible at that level. Post-Printing: Assemble with the Stand and Hanger Brackets Once you've removed the Raft, it's just a matter of mounting your 'Platez' onto the small pins in the Stand or inserting the Hanger Bracket into the back of your Platez. Please note that the clearances used for the Stand pins and Hanger Bracket lugs should make them a firm to tight fit. This ensures they stay secure (particularly with the Hangar Bracket). With an accurate print, they should work well straight away but will need a degree of pressure to secure them in place. These have been tried and tested on MakerBot Replicator 2's and 5th Generation Replicators with great results!
