Plates for 1010 (10mm) MakerBeam®
prusaprinters

I missed some more types of brackets in my Makerbeam® set, so decided to make some more. These are the flat (plates), to keep them separate from the actual 3D brackets.

Included is a FreeCAD file with customizable beam size, hole size, fillet, and markings.

STLs generated with:

target: 1010 aluminum extrusion, M3 screw holes

unit size: 10mm

thickness: 1.5mm

hole diameter 3.6mm (slightly oversized from M3 to account for printer tolerance)

fillet radius: 1.0mm

markings: 0.30mm depth and 1.0mm line width

WARNING: This is a work in progress.

It's mostly working for me, but some of the models may need retouching, some are still missing, and some may not make much sense and may be removed.

When multiple options for a piece are possible, some "common sense" decisions have been made, which may or may not be the optimal for a given use.

Some parameter combinations may result in broken models.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Creality

Printer:

Ender 3

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.20

Infill:

100

Filament: SUNLU PETG Orange

Notes:

Printed in 1.5mm thickness PETG.
Set number of walls to 100 for a solid print.
Speed: 150mm/s, same for wall speed.

Post-Printing

Final pieces have some give, but are sturdy enough that when put on opposite sides of a beam can stabilize it.

For additional rigidity, with the stock M3 screws, up to 3 pieces can be stacked.

Final hole size depends on printing precision; may require some deburring, or may work directly out of the printer.

How I Designed This

Design considerations

Minimize size

Maximize versatility

Match stock plate thickness

Where possible, align holes to grid

Alternatives:

Perpendicular borders: help with alignment

Circular borders: more versatile, use less material

Category: 3D Printer Parts
