Plate to secure the ailerons horn on the Freewing Avantis
thingiverse
These plates are designed to firmly secure the ailerons on the Freewing AvantiS, and a few planes have suffered terrible crashes because the aileron horn was not properly glued in place. With this plate, you can securely fasten them; you can glue them (in this case, just use the bottom one) or screw them (both upper and lower ones together). If you prefer to use screws, simply drill 2mm holes on the plate that will be in contact with the horn and 1.5 mm on the other side. I have created three sizes for the upper one - a thick one (small and large) and a thin one. For screwing, use a 2mm diameter screw and cut off any excess. P.S. The parts feature a chamfer (on top), so you must turn them at 180 degrees on your slicer to have it facing upwards. Update: I have designed a new plate (version 2.4), which eliminates the need for screws; all you need is glue, and I printed it with a 0.1mm layer thickness. Do not reverse it at 180 degrees - this will result in a very nice finish.
