Plastica Skimmer Weir - v3
thingiverse
Alternative to Plastica Part EPF770630. The nodules on this part are designed to take a 10-15mm cut of pool noodle to keep it level with the water's surface. This is my third iteration, and each one has improved significantly since the first two. The first version lacked sufficient buoyancy, while the second had weak attachment points that couldn't hold up in the long term. However, this latest design has overcome these issues by incorporating a longer length that prevents it from swinging outward during backwash. I printed this part using PLA, which saved me about £68 compared to buying two original weir flaps. While it might seem counterintuitive, PLA hasn't shown any signs of degradation in over a year, even when exposed to pool water. Additionally, these parts are cheap enough to reprint if needed. The image shown is from version 2, which had its weaknesses but gives an idea of how the pool noodle should be cut for this design.
