Plastic sides for Anti-Tangle Spool Cage
prusaprinters
This is not actually a remix but more of an add-on.I don't dislike the idea of re-using the filament shipping boxes - actually it's brilliant - it's just that I had thrown them all away. :)This plastic alternative is designed for 200mm spools. The “foot” may make it resemble a stand but you still need some center axle to hold the spool. The bottom square is to prevent the ring from spinning with the filament in my particular dry boxes. Some usage notes:You can use the original clips, but you have to modify them a little: Opposite the round nubs that go in the ring's holes there are two small wedges. These have to be shaved off, e.g with a hobby knife or scalpel. Or someone could remix the clips.I print the ring in PLA, 0.2 layers, 15% infill, two walls and 4 tops/bottoms. I'd advice using PETG for the clips though as that's a little flexible and the fit over the ring is tight. You can also disassemble and re-use the cage easier if the clips have some give.
