I made two small adjustments to lighten the weight of the box, allowing it to remain stackable. I reduced internal wall thickness to half of what it was originally, and I reduced top lid base thickness down to 1mm. My next task is to explore adding a Victorian-inspired pattern on top of the box, which can be done either with Blender or directly within OpenSCAD. External box walls are still thicker than desired, but initially I struggled to think of ways to reduce their thickness while retaining some level of reinforcement for added strength.
