A reel is an object that is used to wind a length of another material, typically long and flexible, for storage purposes. The most common use of reels is for hoses. Typically, a reel consists of a cylindrical core, which is also known as a spool, with flanges at both ends, which are called rims. These rims are designed to keep the material securely wound around the core. In most cases, the core is hollow, allowing an axle to pass through it and enabling the reel to rotate like a wheel.
