Plastic Insert for Shimano R540 SPD-SL Pedals

Riding on Shimano SPD-SL (PD-R540) pedals can lead to worn-out plastic inserts, causing a sloppy connection between the shoe and pedal. To resolve this issue, a 3D printable replacement is available. I created this model after encountering problems with my printer's partially blocked nozzle, which resulted in loose perimeters on the flat side that quickly broke off during use. I resolved these issues by cleaning the nozzle and disabling perimeters globally in slic3r, then reinstating them for upper layers using a modifier mesh. These inserts have endured approximately 120km of riding without any major problems, but their long-term durability is uncertain since they are consumable parts. ABS plastic was used to enhance their lifespan, although other materials might also be suitable alternatives. No support structures are required when printing this model.
