Plastic Hook for Mini Spring Latch

Plastic Hook for Mini Spring Latch

My roll top desk relies on several compact spring latch mechanisms that activate some push-to-open doors. One of them had lost its plastic hook piece, which broke off a long time ago. 3D printing came to the rescue! I created the replacement using Tinkercad in about 20 minutes and printed it out within another 15 minutes. Reattaching it with the original screw made it work perfectly.\r\n\r\nA complete replacement set featuring a mini latch and hook isn't readily available at local hardware stores, and buying one online would have cost around $10. Since I only needed the plastic hook, I designed a simple replacement that I could easily produce with my 3D printer. Hopefully, my design will be useful to you.\r\n\r\nThe photo taken against a green background shows the replacement part (in white PLA) next to the original part (in brown). The other two photos display the original plastic hook and the mini spring latch as they appear when installed correctly.
