Plastic Helping Hands
thingiverse
I've found the metal helping hands consistently leave unsightly marks on the wire housings (even silicone wires proved troublesome). Despite bending the jaws in an attempt to reduce pressure, noticeable dents persisted. Required Support During Printing For optimal results, provide support during the printing process for the arms that span both sides (typically used to hold the wire upright). Print Settings One STL file for each part should be printed at 15% infill and 2 shell total. Secure them to a wooden base using an #8 wood screw; personal preference dictates the optimal distance between parts. I have found success with approximately 50mm apart. Tips for Soldering Small Gauge Wire When soldering small gauge wire, consider printing jaws that are closer together. Optional Tool: helper.stl This STL file is designed to help open the jaws while feeding wire.
