Plastic Extruder
thingiverse
I am currently working on a model for a plastic extruder, based heavily on Lymans extruder design. This new machine will be powered by a robust 1/2 horsepower motor and a compact 20-40 watt heater ring. I chose the 1/2 horsepower motor with gearbox combination due to the convenient availability of this setup in my workshop. Additionally, a previous small electric motor had suffered damage from broken leads, making it unsuitable for use. Furthermore, reusing parts from discarded items around the house not only reduced waste but also helped me save on costs. I will share photos once the assembly process is complete. The motor specifications are impressive: 1/2 horsepower at 1640 revolutions per minute with a power consumption of 4.5 amps. Meanwhile, the gearbox boasts an impressive 11:1 ratio and can handle up to 1 horsepower while operating at a steady 154 rpm.
