Plastic Donk - 1.5KG Beetleweight Combat Robot
thingiverse
This is a fully 3D printable version of my 1.5Kg combat robot Concrete Donkey, now renamed for its remodeled design. The new build has been optimized specifically for 3D printing, as opposed to the original bolted HDPE construction, and includes files for the chassis, lid, motor mounts, and wedge mounts. While the original Concrete Donkey was designed as a spinner, the chassis proved unable to handle the power of the weapon, resulting in cracks, so this version is engineered instead to accommodate a wedge and has been reinforced accordingly. Some Advice: - I recommend using 2mm aluminium for the motor mounts rather than printing them; 6061 Aluminium would be an ideal choice. - There's plenty of excess weight here; find a creative use for it! - Steel will be your best friend when it comes to making a wedge, and bent ends are highly advisable. - Print multiple copies of the lid and mounts; you'll appreciate having extras when they inevitably break. BOM (What you'll need): 1X Chassis 1X Lid 2X Wedge Mounts 4X Motor Mounts 4X 25mm Gearmotors 4X 65mm+ wheels (I used large Lynxmotion wheels) 23X M4 Heatset brass inserts 7X 12mm M4 bolts 16X 8mm M4 bolts 1X 8mm shaft, minimum 140mm long (Steel is again the best option) 2X 8mm collars 1X Full electronics setup - this complex system is too detailed to list here, but there are online guides available.
