Plastic Bag Prototype
thingiverse
To capture a plastic bag's form, I utilized the app 123D Catch. In Rhino, I further manipulated this data. Plastic bags are known for their flexibility, functionality, and transience; however, by 3D printing them, they transform into rigid, non-functional, and permanent objects. A bag with sharper edges was produced using a MakerBot Replicator Generation 5, while a more fluid one came from a MakerBot Replicator 1. These models are perfect for mold-making or can stand as self-sufficient 3D printed sculptures. For the hard bag, settings included 2 shells and 20% infill with supports and rafts; for the soft bag, it had 3 shells and 10% infill with supports.
