Plastic Bag Mask
thingiverse
I began studying how to create a 3D printed mask in February 2020 due to the shortage of surgical masks in Hong Kong after the outbreak of COVID-19 or the Wuhan coronavirus. Many people were concerned that PLA can be porous when printing the masks with FDM 3D printers, which would favor bacteria and viruses, and there was no data to prove that this type of FDM-made mask is suitable for preventing droplets containing viruses. I finally came up with an idea by putting a piece of packing bag or plastic bag cover on the 3D printed mask, hoping that the plastic material would prevent droplets from entering the holes in unevenly printed layers or cracked layers that are difficult to distinguish with the human eye. The plastic cover also provides a personalized mask as users can use different types of covers according to their preferences. I provide a template that fits 100% Montana Mask, which you just need to print and cut to make the cover. It only takes 10 minutes following the steps in the video below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQnN54DbRSY I also set up a Facebook group where you are welcome to join and share your masks. https://www.facebook.com/groups/plasticbagmasks/
