I had to do some plastering work, and one task involved cutting scrim tape for an old covered window alcove that needed 45-degree cuts in the tape. I chose a brand with metal strips running along its center, so tin snips were required for the job. To speed things up, I created and printed a simple tool to mark the tape before cutting with the tin snips. This saved me from dealing with a protractor. Here's how to use it: Hold the tape between the two edges, aligning the marked point in the center of the tape, and make a left or right mark. Then, flip over to make a mark on the flat surface – or do both before cutting. That's all there is to it – easy as can be! The tool was quick to print but saved me plenty of time that would have been spent messing around. And what's more, I designed this tool specifically for 50mm tape. If you're on the other side of the Atlantic using imperial scales (2" or 50.8mm), simply scale your design by 1.016, and adjust as needed if you use a different size of tape.
