plaster fun

Revamping a cement casting model concept, plastic dwellings aren't imminent. Large-format 3D printers might create plastic molds or facades for builders. However, commercial filament yields costly 3D printed molds at approximately $100 per square meter with 3mm mold wall thickness. Home filament extrusion could reduce costs by five times or more. Dreaming further, here's a set of mold components to experiment with, despite this being a quick and dirty test. A real project could integrate 3D art scans from Thingiverse or stereo photo-derived objects. Surprisingly, the plaster in the set solidified much faster than anticipated - within 30 minutes for the initial test batch, and subsequent batches required swift pouring due to rapid setting. The large piece generated heat, resulting in quick hardening.
