Plasteel Cylinder (KOTOR I & II)
thingiverse
Plasteel storage cylinder from Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic I & II I utilized a weak mechanical pencil spring from the base to the top of the center rod, to keep the panels at the top of the cylinder in place. The thickest panel is situated at the lowest point, then thinner as you move around or up. The "cap" panel remains stationary and stays on top. An optional .stl file has been included for an additional panel that can be used instead of the "stepped" panels, which is simpler but less accurate, resulting in a surface that won't be flat when the cylinder is closed. If the model isn't scaled up, I recommend replacing the center rod with a section of paper clip or something stronger, as the plastic rod might not be strong enough. My goal was to create a replica as close to the original model from the games, but I encountered a problem: having to make something that would actually work, which quickly became an engineering challenge.
